On the 25th October one of our riders Dan Hart attended the Institute of Advanced Motorists motorbike conference at Aston University in Birmingham. This prestigious event celebrates all that has been achieved by its members over the past year.

Dan is one of our active volunteer riders and fundraisers, when he isn't helping the charity out he is also an IAM observer. Volunteering for the IAM - Devon Advanced Motorists group. Helping to pass on the knowledge that he has learnt to future advanced riders.

In order to help them to pass their advanced motorbike test this includes the theory of advanced riding and also putting it into practice on the roads. He is passionate about the Freewheelers and always brings his can do attitude to the job.

During the event awards are presented to groups and individuals and we are pleased and proud to announce that Dan was awarded the Lord Strathcarron award.

The Lord Strathcarron Award is in memory of the late Lord Strathcarron, IAM Council member and the first motorcyclist to take the IAM Motorcycle Test in September 1976.

The lord strathcarron award is presented annually to the full motorcycle member of both the IAM and a motorcycle group / section who has, and is currently contributing most to promoting the aims and objects of the iam.

All nominations are reviewed by an IAM panel made up of the Regional Operations Managers, Head of Field Operations and Operations Director. Before being confirmed by the CEO.

We are proud and happy that Dan has been recognised for all of the hard work he has, and continues to put in to the Freewheelers and to riding as a whole. We wish to pass on out congratulations to Dan and hope he will be able to continue serving the community for a long time yet.
