Devon Freewheelers were catapulted onto the television screens recently following a meeting with our new friends at Cross Deck, a very special company based in Devon who supply specialist services to some extremely special people.

We often hear about our forces personnel coming home and thinking of a change, or trying to resettle into 'civvy street' - well this company provides close protection services and body guards to celebs, government ministers, etc.

Here in the UK and specialist contracts abroad using ex-service personnel who can utilise the millions of pounds of training they've received while serving Queen and country. They heard of our plight and decided they had to help, not financially - but with the power of connections.

Man alive - do they have connections! In no time at all, we were appearing in television, newspapers and magazines, spreading the word of what we do to all who never knew we even existed.

Within 48hrs of this media frenzy, organisations from all over the county answered the call for help and donations exceeding £8,000.00 flooded in; and it is still coming in! Lots of £5, £20 even £50 donations hit the website, on the eve of the television broadcast 12,500 hits to this website were logged, Facebook activity jumped 351%, Twitter followers joined @devonbloodbikes in their hundreds and over 7,000 emails were received!

Some of the most significant donations came from Devon's Freemasons, Lions International, The Devon Rotary Clubs, Packexe Limited in Exeter, lots of smaller clubs and associations sending in amounts from £50 to £500 - every one received with gratitude and thanks.

There are yet some amazing announcements to make which will definitely make the news headlines again, throwing us once more to the public eyes, and keeping this new found interest in our work on the lips of Devonians all over the county.

Keep an eye on this website for updates on all of the pledges being made, our links page will promote the amazing people who have got involved and I can only hope by advertising their websites, you in turn will support them.

I would like to thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart, and very importantly Cross Deck, who's Press and Media officer, Directors and family answered the call for 'all hands' and delivered the very best media interest we have ever experienced.
