Athlete Matt Bond completes the 100k Jurrasic Coast Ultra Challenge in less than a day!  Ironically his number for the event was in true spirit of his namesake 007.

Matt, from Matt Bond Signworks has been a supporter of Devon Freewheelers for many years and is a keen athlete who has always had a personal ambition to complete the 100k Ultra Event, the Jurassic Coast 100k Challenge.  Matt finally bit the bullet this year and decided to set a target of £1000 in sponsorship for the charity.

Matt crossed the line in 26th position out of the 90 athletes who decided to attempt the 100k in just under 19hrs.  "Something I will surely remember forever. There were highs and lows... but mostly highs. I'm feeling a bit bruised this morning as expected, the odd blister on my feet" say Matt.

"It was an experience that I can look back on with so many great memories. I think the majority of people didn't like the section from Lyme to Seaton, the undercliffs. This has been one of my favourites throughout my training and yesterday.

My knees were a bit sore from Branscombe to Sidmouth but slowed down and recovered from then on. I always said to myself I was going to run the last stretch along the seafront to the finish and from the lifeboat station I did."

Matt's efforts have paid dividends.  He has surpassed his £1,000 target and more donations are still coming in.  Local business in Budleigh Salterton, DKN Hair, have had a collection box on their reception desk in their Salon.

Daniel Neaves, who has previously held his own Devon Freewheelers Fundraisng events was delighted to hand over the donations from his clients to Matt, wishing him all the best in his challenge.

Would you like to do the same?  If you would like to set yourself a goal and fundraise for the charity we would love to hear from you.  Please get in touch via the contact us page.
